Description
ConfigGuard — Detect Configuration Changes
ConfigGuard records a SHA-256 hash for each configuration file you specify. Run it again later to identify files that changed or disappeared since the baseline was created.
Quick start
Unpack the ZIP and run:
python configguard.py init sample/app.toml
python configguard.py check
A match means the checked files match the recorded baseline. It does not mean the system is secure.
Optional baseline signing
You can sign the baseline using a key you keep separately. This helps detect a replaced or altered baseline when the signature is verified with the correct key.
If a signature is present but you do not supply the key, ConfigGuard still compares the file hashes and reports that the signature was not checked. An unchecked signature is not a verified signature.

FAQ
- Does a match mean my system is secure?
- No. A match means the files you named still hash to the baseline. Files you left off the list are not watched.
- What does the optional signature cover?
- It signs the baseline file, so a swapped baseline is detected. It is not a proof the machine is safe.
