Gumroad figures are quoted from Gumroad's pricing page, fee help, Discover help, and public product description, checked 27 October 2026. Those pages can change.
What does each one sell?
Gumroad describes itself as a place where independent creators sell digital products, including ebooks, courses, music, software, design assets, and memberships. Each creator has a storefront. Discover is the browse and search surface across those products.
Zero to Hundred lists working software. A Buyer pays once for a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to use, modify, and deploy it. The listing needs a working demo or a walkthrough video. Users and revenue are not required. The purchase does not include a business, a customer list, or revenue.
What does a seller pay?
| Topic | Gumroad | Zero to Hundred |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A storefront for digital products, plus Discover for buyers who find a product there. | A license marketplace for working software. |
| Monthly fee | None, on the pricing page checked. | None. |
| Direct sale | 10% + $0.50, plus card processing at 2.9% + $0.30 or PayPal fees. 5% + $0.50 on new direct sales after $20,000 paid in that calendar month. | 8% + $0.50, when the Buyer used the Builder's signed share link. Processing fees may be passed through under the Terms. |
| Marketplace sale | 30% through Discover, including payment processing, for a new customer. | 25% when the Buyer found the listing without a valid signed share link. |
| Who the buyer pays | Gumroad says it has been the merchant of record since 1 January 2025 and handles sales tax collection and remittance. | The Buyer pays the listed price. The Builder is the merchant of record for the license. Builders handle their own tax obligations. |
| Selling the same thing again | A creator's storefront can sell a digital product more than once. | The license is non-exclusive. One sale does not take the listing down. |
The two direct rates are not the same kind of number. Gumroad states a card-processing rate beside its 10% plus $0.50. Zero to Hundred publishes 8% + $0.50 or 25% as the commission and, in the Terms of Use, says processing fees and currency-conversion costs may be passed through. This page does not turn that sentence into a second percentage.
A direct sale on Zero to Hundred is one where the Buyer arrived through a valid signed link for the listing or Seller profile. The first such click counts for 30 days. A visit from search or an AI assistant, without that link, is a discovery sale at 25%.
Gumroad Discover is not automatic. The Discover help page says a creator needs payout settings, a balance of at least $100 from genuine sales, and a risk review before products can be listed there. A product also needs a successful sale, a category, and ratings enabled.
